Bought November 16, 2008. Died while in use July 16, 2009. It’s not worth the money. 8 months to the day. Think twice.

The Magellan Maestro 4210 is a decent, low cost GPS with just enough features to be functional for my basic needs. This GPS does not have a lot of the bells and whistles found on some of the higher-end units, but it isn’t prices like them either.
Here are my observations:
* Very simple to configure and setup, with easy to use and intuitive menus.
* Has a large and clear display, but it does become hard to see in bright sunlight.
* Accurate maps for our area, but we live in a fairly rural area where there aren’t many new roads.
* Clearly spoken directions that are given in an appropriate amount of time (but my daughter said the female voice sounds “Cranky”).
This is a good basic GPS that meets our needs, Recommended!

We are enjoying the new device, and we look forward to some travel this fall where we can really put it to the test. California has lots of Spanish place names which are sometimes butchered by the voice, but the printed version is always on the screen when we can’t understand her. We have not yet given “her” a name, but we will!

I am angry and frustrated. I have both Delorme’s Street Atlas 2008 and Topo USA 7.0. Since Delorme’s Earthmate LT 40 gps which came bundled with Street Atlas is such a poor product, (We took at four thousand mile trip this summer with the LT 40. Over and over it lost the fix and we had to stop and put the gps on the roof until if got a fix.)I have searched for another laptop gps. Globalsat BU 353 seemed to be the answer. Good reviews, right price!
I have only had it a week. It gets a fix very quickly and it works inside the car! However, my Delorme products don’t like it. I had a lot of trouble installing it and getting them to see it in the first place. Now that the programs recognize it I can drive around and it tracks very well on my screen.
THE CATCH! I use the programs to plot routes and find addresses. The programs both freeze up when I plot a route and try to use the gps! It my be a wonderful gps, I am not sure, but don’t expect it to work with Delorme products.

I purchased this item in hopes of using it on my bicycle to travel down many different country roads in my area. The explanations for what this unit does were not clear and the unit did not live up to my expectations. It comes with a base map that tells you basically that you are in North America. I already know this and wanted more detail so I ordered the Maps on DVD recommended by Garmin. These cost an extra $100. I recieved them and found I wasn’t able to put them on my unit because it doesn’t have enough internal memory. Of course Garmin never mentioned this.I finally called the manufacturer who told me that the unit just doesn’t do what I want it to do, mainly, show me detailed road maps for when I bike around my area. I don’t know if I can return this useless item but I’m going to try. I’ll never buy any Garmin product again.

I was hoping for a product that clamped firmly into the air vent. What I got was a device that clamps onto one of the louvers with two pincher hooks at the top. The bottom is just a pedestal that rest somewhere on the center column. My console didn’t provide any good place where this could securely rest.
If you have a car with adjustable air vents (i.e. you have a car built after 1970 or so) this thing just dangles loosely and flops around like the tongue of the aforementioned canine.
Also, each of the front grips comes with a removable extension that grips around the face of your device. If you think you might want to use these, NEVER remove them because once you do they will just fall off on their own.
I wouldn’t trust this piece flimsy piece of @#$% to securely hold anything I spent more than a nickel on.

Samsung NYC Launching Event 2009
samsungzone posted a photo:

On the 13th of August, Samsung Digital Imaging announced the launch of Samsung’s next-generation compact cameras, the Samsung ST550(TL225)/ST500(TL220) and Samsung ST1000(CL65). The coverage, which has been picked up by a wide variety of press outlets and blogs has resulted in an extensive global coverage, including coverage on social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or blogs.
The NYC launch event, which was held in a “cafe”-alike set, in order to smoothly connect to the ambient of the TV advertisement, provided reporters and representatives with a great place to share their thoughts on the new Samsung products.
During the presentation, which started with David Steel’s opening speech, product managers of both products were flooded with questions from reporters.
Overall, the reporter’s impressions were amazing, stating that both, the ST550(TL225)/ST500(TL220) and ST1000(CL65), were simply unique.
